May 15 is International Family Day. Every year, BrightHousers around the globe cook and share a dish that represents their family background. We share a bite, cheer for our favorites, and toast to the loved ones who taught us (or didn’t teach us) to cook. Family Day is more than a meal. It’s a chance to explore what family means to us: through love and laughter, and sometimes through tears as we recognize families’ sacrifices, loss, and new life.

This day of togetherness feels especially significant in quarantine. We can’t eat MJ’s collards or steal seconds of Linda’s dad’s jajangmyeon. But we’re BrightHouse, not HungryHouse, so we made another way to celebrate.

Today, we’re proud to share Bright Appetite, our first-ever doodle-cookbook. Pre-heat your oven, get out your coloring box, and let your mouth water over these hand-illustrated family recipes. Whether you like plants, meats, or cheese curds, we’ve got something you can make and share with love.

Whether your family is near or far, together or not, we at BrightHouse would like to share the warmth of our kitchen and the light of our hearts. So read! Cook. Eat. And toast to the day we will be together again.
